Gio spent part of Tuesday’s show lamenting what could have been had Aaron Rodgers stayed healthy, given the lackluster outlook of the rest of the AFC.
But Rodgers is hurt, still sidelined with an Achilles tear, and because of that, Gio says the future Hall of Famer is actually hurting the Jets even more, thanks to his “cronies” that seem lost without him.
“They brought in Randall Cobb, who can’t get on the field,” Gio said. “Allen Lazard, who stinks. Billy Turner, who had a miserable game the other day.
Nathaniel Hackett, who looks like a boob. Everything they did was for Aaron Rodgers. And because he got hurt - he was supposed to be the savior, but the fact he got hurt and isn’t playing and all his cronies are around him without him - he’s actually hurting the team, which sucks.”
The Jets brought in players like Cobb and Lazard to work alongside Rodgers thanks to their familiarity with each other as teammates with the Packers, but with Rodgers out, neither have been able to accomplish much of anything this season. Their arrivals showed the influence Rodgers has had over the organization since the beginning, which leads Gio to believe that whenever Rodgers says he is ready to return, he will without much resistance.
“If Aaron Rodgers walks into Joe Douglas’ office in front of Robert Saleh and Woody Johnson ‘I’m playing this week,’” Gio said. “They’re not gonna tell him no, because they have bent over backwards for him.”
