Aaron Rodgers opened eyes across the NFL world on Wednesday when he posted a photo of himself with Garrett Wilson with the caption, “Always love my 17s,” while tagging Wilson and Davante Adams (his previous No. 17 receiver in Green Bay) in big white letters.
But, in a much smaller, black font, right on his rear end, Rodgers had tagged another former teammate in offensive lineman David Bakhtiari.
Gio says it was a message from Rodgers to get the three-time Pro Bowler Bakhtiari to New York to help solve his offensive line problem.
“That is not a joke,” Gio said. “That is a ‘we need you here, we are struggling with our offensive line, and you need to go full psycho and get yourself out of Green Bay, come here and win a Super Bowl with me in New York.’
“Aaron Rodgers clearly thinks there is a possibility here. He has to know that this is how it’s going to be perceived. Aaron Rodgers is so savvy and so smart, when he puts something out there like that, that is a message, is it not?”
Was it a message to Bakhtiari, a symbol to come to Gang Green and help cover his rear end from pass rushers? Even if it was, Boomer doesn’t see a reunion happening.
“He has a dead cap hit of $38 million, and he’s also got a salary of $21 million,” Boomer said of Bakhtiari. “He is oft-injured, and I know there is probably some frustration in that regard.
“I don’t know how a situation like this would be able to happen.”
