After hearing Davante Adams tell reporters about his decision to speak up after Sunday’s loss to the Steelers, Gio couldn’t believe that Gang Green’s locker room needed such a message to fire up the troops when the team is in its current situation.
“The team, it’s just rotten,” Gio said. “The whole team, the whole organization, just rotten.”
Adams said he felt there wasn’t much fire and motivation coming from the sideline, even after big plays on the field. Gio said it was about as band an indictment on the team as you could possibly hear.
“How bad is that? you’re on the road in this hostile environment, you just got Davante Adams, if you win this game, you got the Patriots next week to get to 4-4, you just fired your head coach…and you’re walking around like zombies on the sideline??” Gio said.
With everything that has transpired with the Jets in recent weeks, Gio is finding it harder and harder to pull for this group, and would almost rather watch it crash and burn at this point.
“I’m not sure I do now. I’m serious…I’m starting to root against this group,” Gio said. “The way Woody Johnson took this thing over and pushed Joe Douglas aside…now I want it to blow up in Woody’s face. I don’t want them to lose…but it pisses me off that he got so involved in this thing.”
