It just wasn’t to be for the Jets on Sunday, who held late leads in Zach Wilson’s return under center but fell 20-17 to the Lions…despite almost having a chance for OT.

C.J. Uzomah’s second touchdown of the day put the Jets up 17-13 with just under five minutes left, but the Lions engineered a 78-yard TD drive that gave them back the 20-17 lead with just under two to go.
The Jets were set up for one last comeback, which nearly ended but somehow survived thanks to this final actual offensive play of the game:
Yes, that was Elijah Moore getting 40 yards on fourth-and-18, and getting down just quick enough for the Jets to get a timeout with one second left, setting up a 57-yard field goal attempt by Greg Zuerlein.
And then…
Zuerlein’s kick was pushed wide, and the Jets had a tough ending to a day where they fought hard and Wilson, while not incredible by any means (18-for-35, so just over 50 percent completion percentage), threw for 317 yards and two touchdowns.
