Teams around the NFL are honoring Damar Hamlin during pregame ceremonies on Sunday, and individual players have the option to wear Hamlin-inspired t-shirts during warmups prior to their season finales as well.
Jets defensive backs Sauce Gardner and Jordan Whitehead, however, took that one step further, rocking Hamlin’s No. 3 Bills jersey in warmups today prior to their game in Miami.
Whitehead, who is from Aliquippa, Penn., just outside Pittsburgh, was a college teammate of Hamlin’s at Pitt in 2016-17 and has known him since childhood, so he rocked the jersey in tribute to his long-time friend.
Gardner, meanwhile, had Tweeted earlier in the week asking if someone could get him a Hamlin jersey to wear Sunday, as he ordered one but it wouldn’t come in time – and apparently, he found one.
