Jets place Garrett Wilson on injured reserve with knee injury

The Jets will be without their star wide receiver and top offensive weapon for at least the next four games.

Gang Green announced Thursday afternoon that Garrett Wilson has been placed on injured reserve, meaning he will not play Thursday night against the Patriots or at least the next three following games, as an IR stint means a player must sit for at least the next four contests.

In a corresponding move, defensive back Jarius Monroe was elevated to the active roster ahead of the primetime matchup with New England.

Wilson played in last week’s game against the Browns, but left in the third quarter after appearing to reaggravate the knee injury that previously sidelined him for two games. His absence will surely complicate things for a New York offense that has struggled through the air in part to Justin Field’s passing troubles, but the Jets will have to find a way for at least the next month.

Rich Cimini of ESPN reported earlier this week that Wilson could miss 3-4 weeks with a knee sprain, and Aaron Glenn wasn’t too cooperative when asked about it by reporters shortly after. As it turns out, Cimini appears to have been on the nose with the prognosis and recovery timeline.

Wilson has 395 receiving yards and four touchdowns in seven games played so far this season.
