Jets trade Zach Wilson to Broncos, ending nightmare tenure

The Zach Wilson tenure is over in New York.

After months of speculation, the former No. 2 pick has been dealt to the Broncos for a sixth-round pick, with Gang Green getting a sixth-round pick in return.

Wilson had been granted permission by the Jets at the end of the season to seek a trade, but nothing materialized. Joe Douglas and Woody Johnson then told reporters that they considered Wilson an “asset,” and wouldn’t trade him for nothing.

But with the draft approaching, and the likely frustration from Wilson if he wasn’t dealt before that, the Jets finally made the move, ending one of the most disappointing tenures in franchise history, as the assumed quarterback of the future was benched multiple times during his Jets career, and was statistically one of the worst quarterbacks in football.
