Jets look like clear better team in win over Titans

The New York Jets are 1-0.

Gang Green put together an impressive season-opening performance on Sunday, getting the best of former head coach Robert Saleh with a 23-10 win over the Titans. The victory marks the team's first double-digit win since the regular season finale in 2024 against the Dolphins.

The Jets' new-look offense with Geno Smith showed encouraging signs right away, putting together an eight play, 60-yard drive to open the game, culminating in a three-yard touchdown run from rookie Kenyon Sadiq. The score was the first time the Jets opened a game with a touchdown on their first possession in 10 years.

Breece Hall added a touchdown rush of his own, punching it in from four yards out to put New York ahead 17-3 in the third quarter. Jason Sanders drilled three field goals on the day, including two from more than 50 yards out, though he did miss one attempt in brutal fashion, pulling it wide left by a mile.

Smith finished 19-for-24 with 215 yards passing in his first game back with the team, while Garrett Wilson led all receivers with 79 yards on six catches.

Meanwhile, the defense held Saleh's Titans to just 68 yards on the ground.

It has been a long time since the Jets provided such a takeaway, but in Sunday's season opener, they left looking like the clear better team than their opponent, kicking things off strong in year two of Aaron Glenn's tenure.
