As the Jets prepare to take on Joe Flacco and the Browns on Thursday night, Joe can only wonder what could have been for his Jets had they actually put together a solid backup quarterback plan behind Aaron Rodgers.
“I think the fans have gotten completely hosed this year,” Joe said. “I can’t get away from the fact that they did not have a viable backup quarterback. They just went forward with Zach Wilson, never thinking, ‘what happens if our almost 40-year-old quarterback goes down with an injury?’”
Joe says that blame falls at the feet of the general manager, who likely cost New York 2-3 wins by keeping Wilson as the backup.
“It’s malpractice that Joe Douglas did not [add a backup],” Joe said. “Forget about before the season, but as soon as he goes down four plays in, Douglas has to be on the phone making a deal with somebody to get a backup quarterback in here.”
