Knicks first win leads to social media piling on winless Jets

The Knicks picked up a spirited win in their season opener to kickstart the Mike Brown era, but part of the instant reaction included plenty of fans having fun at the Jets’ expense.

As the Knicks moved to 1-0 on the season, many fans pointed out that they now have more wins than Gang Green, still winless at 0-7 despite their season starting nearly a month and a half earlier.

Countless social media users piled on the hapless Jets for failing to record a single win before the Knicks - previously among the helpless franchises in the city - beat the Eastern Conference favorite Cavaliers to kick off a season in which there are championship or bust expectations at Madison Square Garden.

For the Jets, the expectation was a more disciplined, drama-free team under no-nonsense coach Aaron Glenn, but so far, the season has included combative responses to media members when it comes to the quarterback position, a subsequent QB change, team owner Woody Johnson taking shots at Justin Fields, and zero wins.

It hasn’t been a fun season for the Jets by any means so far. Not only have they badly struggled, the quarterback the new regime spurned - Aaron Rodgers - has turned back the clock and has the Steelers storming towards an AFC North title. The Jets are taking jeers and jabs from every angle, and that has now extended to the NBA, where teams like the Knicks are beating them to the win column despite the NFL having a notable head start.
