The Jets have released veteran tight end Ryan Griffin, ending his three-year run with Gang Green.
Griffin, 32, joined the Jets as a free agent prior to the 2019 season, and had 70 receptions for 667 yards and seven touchdowns in 42 games over those three years.
He became expendable when the Jets signed both C.J. Uzomah and Tyler Conklin in free agency – two tight ends who bested the Jets’ entire TE depth chart in stats last year – and his release saves $3 million against the cap.
Griffin was originally a sixth-round pick of the Texans in 2013, and has 206 catches for 2,158 yards and 14 TD in 119 career games.
