Phil Simms’ weekly Simms Spotlight was heavy on the Giants talk, as he got to do the game with Boomer, Gio, and Jerry this past weekend for Compass Media Networks – even if there wasn’t much to crow about from Big Blue’s end, other than Phil liking Bill Belichick (who had some words about the Giants’ offensive line on the Pat McAfee Show) in the media.
Then the talk turned to the Jets, who play Belichick’s former team this weekend, and Phil had a bit of an ultimatum:
“If the Jets don’t win this weekend, I would just say it’s over,” Phil told B&G of the Jets-Pats game. “I don’t want to hear it anymore. I don’t. It’s got to start this weekend, don’t look farther than that.”
Boomer thinks the Jets can win four in a row against the Pats, Texans, Cards and Colts, and have to go at worst 3-1 to be able to think about the playoffs – but Gio disagrees, and yeah, Phil says if that one is a loss to the 1-6 Pats, forget it all.
“I don't want to turn the TV on and hear about the Jets if they lose this weekend, because the Patriots really don't have one part of their team that they can rely on to say, ‘well, if this part plays well, we will win,” Phil said. “Drake Maye can make plays, but the Jets are the better football team, and even Jerod Mayo said the Pats’ defense is soft.”
