Woody Johnson opened some eyes on Monday when he told reporters that the Jets would keep Zach Wilson if the team couldn’t find a trade partner for him, despite the team clearly making it known that they are ready to move on.
Sal actually didn’t blame the Jets owner at all for refusing to part with the former No. 2 overall pick for nothing in return.
“Actually to me, it’s not the craziest thing,” Sal said. “It’s just bad investment to give him away for nothing. Why just cut him loose for another team to take a chance on him when you can hold onto that asset and just see if anything may come of it?
“I’m not giving an asset away for pennies on the dollar.”
BT, while he long believed in Wilson, says there is no way the Jets can enter camp this summer with Wilson still on the roster.
“The Jets emasculated him and treated him like a child,” BT said. “For Woody Johnson to even think about keeping Zach Wilson around is absolute lunacy.
“He’s gotta go. It doesn’t matter. He can’t be in the building and he can’t be on the practice field. It’s over…he’ll never be a complete non-story because he was the second overall pick, and at this point, the biggest symbol of failure for this regime and Joe Douglas.”
