Violet in Manhattan is a 94-year-old Yankee fan who was so “disgusted” with her Bombers after a 14-1 loss to the Orioles on Thursday night, that she called Sal and Jerry to declare it the worst game she has watched since she started following the Yanks in 1971.
“I was so disgusted last night,” Violet said. “I think it was terrible. It was the worst game ever, for me at least. I blame management for it.
“How could he put Severino to pitch last night in such an important game? I know Severino was very good at one time, but not now.”
Violet, originally from England, came over to New York in the early 1970s to live with her husband, a New York native who grew up loving the Yankees. She has been able to see several championships for the Bombers in that time, and while she was disgusted with what she saw on Thursday, she still believes the 2023 Yankees can do enough to be the last team standing come October.
“I think they’re great,” Violet said. “They just need some more help with the pitching.”
