The Yankees were already beaten down after losing two straight to the Astros in Houston to find themselves in immediate desperation mode in the ALCS, but an old rival then threw some added shade on the Bombers after their defeat in game two.

Pedro Martinez, part of the TBS broadcast crew on the network’s postgame coverage, declared the Astros to be the Yankees’ daddy, just as he once declared the Bombers to be his daddy back when he was the ace of the Red Sox during the height of the New York/Boston rivalry.

“It took a lot less for me to call the Yankees my daddy than what the Astros are doing to the Yankees,” Martinez said. “The Astros are the Yankees’ daddy.”

It’s hard to argue with Martinez, as the Yanks have now lost seven of nine games to Houston this season, needing a walk-off in their only two victories, and have been bounced by the Astros three times since 2015, and now creeping dangerously close to making it four.
