Former Yankee and seven-time Cy Young winner Roger Clemens returned to the mound on Saturday night, making an appearance for the popular Savannah Bananas during their tour of major league stadiums.
Clemens, at 61 years old, allowed five runs and was taken deep as he pitched at Minute Maid Park, home of his former Astros. The Bananas will also visit Fenway Park, another former home of Clemens, on their tour.
Clemens hasn’t pitched in the majors in nearly 17 years, having last appeared with the Yankees in 2007.
The righty received a raucous applause from the crowd of mainly Astros fans as he came off the mound, as nearly 41,000 fans were in attendance for the Bananas’ first game in a big-league park.
Clemens wasn’t the only former major leaguer, or former Astro, to take the mound on Saturday, as former teammate Roy Oswalt also made an appearance.
