DJ LeMahieu went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in Sunday’s loss to the Cardinals, dropping his season batting average to a lowly .225 with a .657 OPS.
After running out to an .889 OPS through his first 19 games to begin the season, LeMahieu has hit just .199 since.
LeMahieu turns 35 next week, and Sal and Jerry believe the veteran infielder may just be cooked.
“DJ LeMahieu looks washed,” Sal said. “He just looks so old and slow in the field.”
Jerry also believes he is watching a player in steep decline, and the toe injury from last season is not an excuse for his prolonged struggles.
“He’s aging right before our eyes,” Jerry said.
