Sal laughs at Yankee fans constantly expecting greatness from their prospects

Spencer Jones reportedly held up trade talks between the Yankees and Brewers for Corbin Burnes, which BT has no problem with considering the hype surrounding the top prospect.

Sal couldn’t help but laugh at the Yankees seemingly once again clutching tightly to a prospect that could ultimately be a flop.

“Just like Jesus Montero, right?” Sal said. “Like [Jasson] Dominguez, who has played seven games. Every Yankee prospect is gonna be the greatest player ever…the Baby Bombers, who actually did something in 2017, getting to game seven of the ALCS, still haven’t gotten to a World Series. So I’m still waiting, even for the greatest prospect of all in Aaron Judge, I’m still waiting to see him in a World Series.”

So, as the Yankees began a youth movement at the end of last season that included Dominguez, Austin Wells, and Everson Pereira (joining the likes of Anthony Volpe and Oswald Peraza), Sal can’t help but feel a sense of déjà vu, and wouldn’t be surprised if the latest wave of prospects don’t pan out.

“Austin Wells, what’s he gonna do this year?” Sal said. “What’s Anthony Volpe gonna do this year, 30/30? Right, of course, because only two Yankees in the history of the franchise have done it. Why not Volpe do it? Dominguez is gonna be a stud, and this guy is gonna be a stud? Give me a break.

“They say all in, and yet they’re holding onto these prospects in lieu of Corbin Burnes.”
