CBS Sports' Shaun Morash unleashes red-faced rant defending Yankees

CBS Sports’ Shaun Morash is tired of the Yankee slander.

After David Samson criticized the Yanks’ roster construction and performance during their 5-10 start, Morash unleased a red-faced tirade towards the former Marlins president and anyone else who has already begun to pen an obituary on the Yankees’ season.

The crutch of Morash’s argument? Part of the Yankees’ roster construction has Samson’s fingerprints on it.

“Who gave Giancarlo Stanton that contact?” Morash yelled. “David Samson with the Marlins! He’s part of the reason that the Yankees have bad contracts, because of the contracts he handed out! Hey bozo, part of the roster construction is because of you handing out those contracts! What world are we living in? Take some accountability for yourself!”

As for anyone else who has already considered 2021 a lost season, Morash had plenty to say to that crowd.

“People have given up? They’re five games under, they’re 3.5 games back of the Wild Card, it’s not even April 30th!” Morash yelled. “People have lost their mind! We’re a month away from the NBA Finals and we’re burying the Yankees? They’re 3.5 games out!”

Plenty of fans have shown their frustration with the Yanks, even throwing baseballs onto the field during a loss to the Rays, but Morash is trying to bring a sense of calm at such an early point in the season, even if his rant was anything but relaxed. Noting a softer schedule in the coming weeks, Morash confidently stated that the Yanks will be in first place come May 15, which would require a rapid turnaround.

“I see the schedule ahead of them, I see the team they have,” Morash said. “I’m ready to put my name on it, because I don’t just say wild things like David Samson without paying attention to what’s going on.”
