Somerset Patriots moving first three games of next week's home series to Hartford

The Somerset Patriots announced Saturday that the first three games of next week's series with the Hartford Yard Goats, scheduled from Tuesday, September 7th through Thursday, September 9th, have been moved from TD Bank Ballpark to Dunkin’ Donuts Park in Hartford.

Although the games will be in the Yard Goats' home stadium, Somerset will be the home team, with the games moved because TD Ballpark is still feeling the effects of flooding from Hurricane Ida. Game time is 6:05 p.m. for all three games, and tickets are on sale at www.yardgoatsbaseball.com.

Per the Patriots' release, the location for the final three games of that series (Friday, September 10th through Sunday, September 12th) is TBD, but the team is hoping to be able to play what would be their final three home games of 2020 at TD Bank Ballpark.

“Out of respect for our community, both teams’ players and coaches, as well as the work that still needs to be done at home, we have decided with the Yard Goats, Major League Baseball, and the Yankees that the best course of action will be to move the games,” Patriots President/General Manager Patrick McVerry said in a team statement. “We’d like to thank the Yard Goats ownership and management for helping us out during these difficult times. Our goal is to finish the series at home over the weekend when we are ready to re-open the ballpark in the cleanest and safest way possible.”

“We are happy to help the New York Yankees and Somerset Patriots by moving the games to Dunkin’ Donuts Park in Hartford,” Yard Goats President Tim Restall said.  “We are thinking about all the folks that have been impacted by Hurricane Ida and look forward to welcoming in our new guests for an additional three games next week.”

Bridgewater, N.J. received over 11 inches of rain from Hurricane Ida, leaving TD Bank Ballpark underwater for nearly 48 hours, and leaving many players facing total loss of vehicles and personal belongings.
