Perhaps Oswaldo Cabrera really CAN do it all?

Last season, Cabrera, an infielder his entire minor-league career, played 27 games in right field and nine in left for the Yankees – as well as a handful at all four infield spots, including first base – but did not get a turn in center field.
He said earlier this spring that he’d love to get some reps out at that spot just to increase his versatility even more, and finally, on Wednesday, Aaron Boone gave him a shot, inserting Cabrera as the second-string center fielder against the Cardinals.
And, well…
Defense wins championships but in Cabrera’s case, it’s once again winning the hearts of Yankees fans – and the metrics, which had him as a +13 Defensive Runs Saved as an outfielder last year despite literally never playing on the grass in his pro career until the middle of 2022.
