The Yankees are getting a long-lost arm back from the IL, but a fellow bullpen arm is reportedly replacing him on the IL.
According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, Zack Britton is rejoining the Yanks after his rehab clock expired, meaning he will be with the big-league club for the first time since undergoing Tommy John surgery last year. But, the corresponding move will be placing Wandy Peralta on the IL.
Per Sherman, Peralta has a “back/side” issue, not an arm problem, which could indicate that he won’t be shelved for an extended period of time.
Peralta has been one of the Yankees’ most reliable relievers this season, posting a 2.72 ERA in 56.1 innings of work. Britton hasn’t pitched since August of 2021.
