The Yankees must have missed Tyler Wade.
According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, the Bombers have reportedly agreed to a trade with the Angels to bring back the utility man to New York, where he spent his first five big-league seasons.
Wade was designated for assignment by the Angels earlier this month. In 147 at-bats this season, Wade holds a lowly .218 batting average with a .544 OPS and a -0.5 WAR.
In five years with the Yanks, Wade batted .212 with a .605 OPS while playing nearly every position on the diamond aside from first base and catcher. The Yankees always hoped the former fourth-round pick could capitalize on his speed, but Wade never reached base enough to have that be an impact.
