The New York Yankees have declined their 2025 team option on RHP Lou Trivino, making him a free agent.
The team made the announcement Sunday afternoon, making Trivino the second player they declined their option on, following Anthony Rizzo on Saturday.
Trivino was non-tendered last offseason after undergoing Tommy John surgery and re-signed to a one-year, $1.5 million deal with the $5 million club option. However, he did not end up contributing to the major-league club due to a series of setbacks in his Tommy John rehab, the last a shoulder issue that ended up shutting him down in September.
The righty, acquired at the 2022 trade deadline, had a 1.66 ERA In 21 2/3 innings for the Yankees that season, and has a 3.86 career ERA in 284 2/3 innings with the A’s and Yankees.
