Yankees don't plan on seeking trade after Frankie Montas injury: Report

The Yankees are down their fifth starter, perhaps for the entire season, but the team is reportedly not looking to acquire a pitcher via trade to fill that void.

According to SNY’s Andy Martino, the Yanks had no serious “internal discussion” about making a trade after it was revealed that Frankie Montas needed shoulder surgery to address inflammation that has lingered since before he was dealt to New York last summer.

The Yankees instead plan to rely on Domingo German and Clarke Schmidt to compete for the final spot in the rotation.

New York boasts one of the best rotations in baseball with Gerrit Cole, Carlos Rodon, Luis Severino, and Nestor Cortes, but Cortes is currently nursing a hamstring strain (though he is set to throw off a mound on Friday), and Severino comes with years of injury concerns, so a move may need to eventually be made. But for now, it seems like the Yanks are ready to address Montas’ injury from within.
