Harrison Bader is looking ready to make his Yankees debut.
The center field trade acquisition, who is working his way back from plantar fasciitis, crushed a long home run in his rehab assignment with Double-A Somerset on Wednesday night, part of a two-hit night following an 0-for-3 showing in his first rehab appearance.
Bader hasn’t played since June 26, and hoped to be activated by the Yankees on Tuesday against the Pirates, meaning he will have 16 games to knock off the rust before the postseason.
Bader was asked about the fan reaction to the trade that sent Jordan Montgomery, now thriving in St. Louis, to the Cardinals, which many Yankee fans have lamented from the start.
“Is that what they’re saying?” Bader asked in response to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal. “I haven’t seen that. Stuff like that is not going to help my rehab go any faster.”
