Aaron Boone gave a number of injury updates before Thursday’s series finale against the Angels, offering the latest news on Harrison Bader, Luis Severino, and Carlos Rodon.
Bader, still sidelined with an oblique strain that has kept him from appearing at all yet this season, faced Severino in live batting practice on Thursday, and is set to begin a rehab assignment on Friday in Double-A.
Severino threw 20 pitches in that live BP session against Bader and Willie Calhoun, after throwing 15 pitches in the bullpen. The righty, who has also yet to make his season debut due to a lat strain, will now travel to Tampa for more live sessions before beginning a rehab assignment.
As for Rodon, who Boone said Wednesday saw testing look “normal” on his “barking” back, he will undergo another CT scan and won’t throw “for a few days,” as the Yankees try to get to the bottom of his back ailment. Rodon has yet to make his Yankee debut, initially being shut down early in spring training with a forearm muscle strain.
