Joey Gallo is likely on his way out after the Yankees traded for Andrew Benintendi, and Boomer and Jerry agree that it needs to end soon, and that they feel “terrible” for the badly struggling slugger.
“I feel terrible for this guy,” Jerry said, to which Boomer responded, “I think we all do.
“The Joey Gallo saga…I don’t know if you saw him in the dugout afterwards. Maybe it was the third strikeout…they cut away from him really quick. The fans are gonna be merciless, and that’s the way it’s gonna be…they’re gonna be on you.”
But Boomer doesn’t think the Yankees will trade him, and the struggles might continue through the rest of the season.
“The fans have really reached their breaking point, and the Yankees have too,” Boomer said. “They probably have to keep him around because of Giancarlo Stanton’s injury.”
