According to Erik Boland of Newsday, the Yankees may be motivated to trade Miguel Andujar now that a deal to send Luke Voit to the Padres has been finalized.
Bolan reports that the Yanks have become “more aggressive” in their push to trade Voit as well as Miguel Andujar (the Voit trade has since been announced). Per Boland, New York has “lowered” its demands for a return haul on both players, “especially” Voit, who became expendable with the addition of Rizzo and DJ LeMahieu serving as a backup option at first. Voit wound up getting New York San Diego's top 2020 draft pick in pitcher Justin Lange.
Voit seemed like a trade steal when he was brought over from St. Louis in 2018, but injuries have gotten in the way, especially last season, when he spent four different stints on the IL. Injuries have also hurt Andujar, who was a doubles machine in his 2018 rookie campaign despite significant fielding troubles at the hot corner. He suffered a significant shoulder injury early in the 2019 season and has never recovered, batting .228 with seven home runs in 92 plate appearances since his 2018 breakout.
