Yankees, Lou Trivino avoid arbitration, agree to one-year deal

The Yankees announced on Friday night that they avoided arbitration with reliever Lou Trivino, agreeing on a one-year contract worth $4.1 million.

The righty reliever was a consolation prize in the trade for Frankie Montas, but wound up turning himself into one of the team’s most reliable relievers down the stretch while New York’s bullpen was decimated by injuries. After posting a 6.47 ERA with the A’s in 32 innings, Trivino pitched to a 1.66 ERA in 21.2 innings with the Yanks.

For his career, Trivino has a 3.86 ERA on 284.2 innings of work. The 31-year-old isn’t a free agent until 2025.
