Matt Carpenter makes more Yankees history, earns curtain call as home run surge continues

Another night, another jaw-dropping performance from the resurgent Matt Carpenter.

The sudden Yankees sensation clubbed two more home runs against the Red Sox on Saturday, both three-run shots for his 12th and 13th homers on the season.

Those 13 home runs have come in just 30 games as a Yankee, as Carpenter has gone from seemingly inconsequential big-league signing in late May to holding the franchise record for most home runs in the first 30 games with the team.

Carpenter also earned his first Yankee Stadium curtain call after the second long ball, as fans in the Bronx have quickly become enamored with the once forgotten All-Star who has now commanded an everyday role, including time in the outfield, given his .365 batting average and 1.418 OPS, leading the league in the latter department since making his season debut.
