Gio: Francisco Lindor contract should 'annoy the hell' out of Aaron Judge

Aaron Judge has his 2022 salary, but now all eyes will be on what kind of payday he receives moving forward, whether it be from the Yankees or another team.

If Judge reaches free agency, Gio says the Yankee slugger should use Francisco Lindor’s contract as a barometer for what he deserves, and that the payday the Mets shortstop received in the first place should bother Judge given how the two have fared in the Big Apple so far.

“If I’m Aaron Judge…that’s a contract right there that annoys the hell out of me,” Gio said.

“That would be a contract you would look at and say ‘Hey, this guy’s making this, this is part of the argument for me to be making more than this.’”

If you compare the two, Gio says Judge is likely not thrilled with seeing one New York star make $341 million with an AAV of nearly $32 million, while the Yanks offered Judge, a far more valuable player at this point, an AAV of $30.5.

“The Mets paid him before he even did anything for the Mets, whereas Aaron Judge is a homegrown Yankee,” Gio said. “He’s probably thinking ‘OK, this guy came over, did nothing for this organization, got paid $340 million, and I’m getting nickel and dimed by this team that I’m the face of.”
