It was a tough series overall for Josh Donaldson, who had an uncharacteristic throwing error turn into a run in game one against the Mets, and on Wednesday, bailed out on a Seth Lugo curveball that hooked over the outside corner for a strike.
Donaldson, clearly fooled by the pitch, ducked, leaned back, and fell to his knees while the curveball just caught the inside corner to ring up the veteran third baseman, who continues to struggle at the plate in his debut season for the Yankees.
As for Lugo, he earned the win with 1.2 innings of clutch relief, striking out three along the way, none more eye-opening than the hook that fooled Donaldson.
