Yankees sign Aaron Boone to two-year contract extension

Aaron Boone and the Yankees have agreed on a contract extension that will keep the manager in the Bronx through the 2027 season.

The Yankees and Boone were negotiating an extension as players reported for spring training, and now, the team made it official on Thursday morning that the terms have been finalized and agreed upon.

Boone has been the Yankee skipper since 2018, when he managed the team to a 100-win campaign in his debut season. He led the yanks to another 100-win season in 2019, ultimately falling in game six of the ALCS. He never made it back to that point until last season, when the Yankees ended their 15-year pennant drought and reached the World Series, ultimately falling to the Dodgers in five games.

Boone has missed the playoffs just once during his seven years as Yankee manager, which came in 2023. He has managed the Yanks to over 90 wins in every other season, excluding the COVID-shortened 2020 campaign. In his time as skipper, he has reached the ALCS three times, and holds a record of 603-429, good for seventh all time in franchise history.

The Yanks exercised their 2025 club option on Boone’s contract back in November.
