Yankees among teams to 'visit' Brandon Nimmo, also in on Carlos Rodon: Report

Aaron Judge remains the biggest unknown for the Yankees, but could they be preparing themselves for the potential catastrophe of their homegrown superstar choosing to play elsewhere?

According to Jon Heyman, the Yanks are on the list of teams to “visit” Brandon Nimmo, a fit that only seems to make sense if there is a hole in the outfield left behind by Judge. Of course, the Yanks could convince Nimmo to play left field, as Harrison Bader’s elite glove has center field locked down in 2023, but Nimmo played no left field last season, and only made three starts at the position in 2021.

Nimmo has seen even less experience in right field, so it would be interesting to imagine a fit even if Judge left. But the Yankees have been known to at least check in on every free agent, and could simply be doing their due diligence when it comes to the former Met.

Per Heyman, the Yanks are also among the teams in on Carlos Rodon, one of the top aces left on the free agent market now that Jacob deGrom has signed with the Rangers.
