EASTPOINTE (WWJ) - Police say one person is dead and three others are hospitalized following a stabbing attack in Eastpointe.

The incident happened around 12:40 a.m. Saturday at a home in the 22000 block of Rein Avenue, in a neighborhood along 9 Mile Road and Gratiot Avenue.

Sgt. Christopher Rhodea said a total of four people were stabbed -- two males and two females -- and one of the victims is also the suspect.

"The preliminary investigation indicates that all involved knew each other. Our officers and detectives secured the scene and all individuals with knife wounds were transported to an area hospital," Rhodea told WWJ's Michael Cohen.

One of the victims, a 26-year-old Hamtramck man, died from his injuries. The other victims remain hospitalized in unknown conditions.

"The suspect has been identified and is in custody," Rhodea said. "There is no danger to the public at this time."

Rhodea declined to give additional details, citing an ongoing investigation.

Charges are pending.
