SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WWJ) -- Police are investigating after a 15-year-old Macomb Township boy was struck by a car and killed while walking in Shelby Township Saturday night.
Authorities say the teen was walking along 25 Mile Road west of Hayes Road when he was hit by a silver BMW just after 6 p.m.
Attempts to revive the teenager on scene were unsuccessful.
The identity of the victim has not been released, but WWJ has confirmed that the boy was a student in the Utica Community School District. Counselors will be on-hand to help UCS students and teachers deal with the loss of a classmate.
The driver's name had not been released, and he has only been identified as a 33-year-old male from Shelby Township.
The cause of the crash is still unknown, as the investigation is still in the early stages.
