(WWJ) A startling find in Jackson County, Michigan: a three-foot-long alligator.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, a resident on Roundtree Road in Hanover Township, southwest of Jackson, called the report the reptile Thursday.
The man said the alligator came from a pond and swamp area on his property, and was currently walking across the yard.
The resident caught and held the animal in a fishing net until a deputy arrived to help. No one was injured.
It's unknown if the alligator was purposely released, as sometimes happens as they get bigger, or if someone's pet got loose. It was taken to the Jackson County Animal Shelter.
