ROYAL OAK TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Police are searching for three suspects in connection with a shooting along the Ferndale-Detroit border.
Michigan State Police say the incident unfolded around 8 p.m. Thursday when they were notified by Detroit Police about a shooting that occurred in Royal Oak Township. The 20-year-old victim had called police while on the way to the hospital.
Police received conflicting information about the actual location of the shooting, which was originally reported as a home on Parkside Boulevard. Troopers later received information from witnesses who were with the victim at the time of the shooting, that it happened near Bates and Garden streets, off Wyoming Avenue just north of 8 Mile Road.
The witnesses told police that two suspects shot the victim before fleeing on foot, and a third suspect joined the others in running from the scene.
A K-9 unit responded to the area but was not able to track the suspects or locate a weapon. All three suspects remain at large.
The victim was last reported in critical but stable condition.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 248-584-5740.
