DETROIT (WWJ) - Authorities are investigating a deadly fire on Detroit's west side that claimed the life of an elderly man.
The fire broke out just before 2 a.m. Friday at a home on St. Mary's Street, near Grand River and Fenkell avenues.
The 82-year-old man was trapped inside the home and died in the fire. Three other people made it out of the home safely.
Officials say the man, identified in reports as Lee Jones, was a smoker and on an oxygen tank.
The fire remains under investigation.
