DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are searching for a man who tried to snatch a child on the city's west side.
The young girl's father reported the incident to police over the weekend. He said a stranger approached his 5-year-old daughter while she was with her 11-year-old sister Sunday afternoon on Whelock near Lafayette and tried to get her to go with him. The girls ran from the man, who chased after them.
The suspect eventually took off and fled the scene on foot.
Police tell WWJ part of the incident was caught on surveillance cameras at a nearby Project Green Light location.
The girls weren't harmed, but police are still asking anyone with information to come forward.
