WHITE LAKE TWP. (WWJ) - The mysterious case of an Oakland County mother and son found dead two days after Christmas has been ruled a murder-suicide.
According to White Lake Township police, officers were conducting a welfare check at a home on Laurent Street, the evening of December 27, 2018, when they discovered the bodies of 53-year-old Katheryn Watson and her 25-year-old son Kevin Watson in different rooms of the house.
Detectives on the scene didn't find any signs of forced entry or a struggle, police said, but they did locate numerous prescription medications in the subjects' names.
According to a toxicology report released by the Oakland County Medical Examiner, both had high amounts of prescription drugs in their systems.
Police told WWJ Newsradio 950 they believe the mother gave her son the drugs, then took her own life by overdosing the following day.
