
INKSTER (WWJ) - Authorities say a 45-year-old woman and a 10-year-old child were killed instantly when their vehicle collided with a police cruiser in Inkster.
The crash happened around 6:30 p.m. Friday on westbound Cherry Hill Road near Inkster Road.
Michigan State Police say the Inkster Police SUV was heading to a crash scene on Hickory Street with its lights and sirens activated when a Buick sedan that was traveling eastbound made a left turn in front of the cruiser.
Both victims were declared dead at the scene. The officer was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police say the investigation is pending review of the dash cam video, black box review and autopsy results.
The victims' names were not released.
