MACKINAC ISLAND (WWJ) - More than 1,000 business, political and civil leaders are gathered on Mackinac Island for an annual policy conference hosted by the Detroit Regional Chamber.
The four-day Mackinac Policy Conference officially opened just before noon on Wednesday, with Governor Gretchen Whitmer on stage announcing a new program to drive innovation in new transportation technologies, also pushing her 45-cents a gallon gas tax increase.

While roads continue to be a main topic at the conference, along with schools and education, the biggest moment came Thursday morning, when Gov. Whitmer signed a bill to reform Michigan's auto insurance system, guaranteeing lower rates for every Michigan driver. ((READ MORE))
