ROMEO, Mich. (WWJ) - One person is hospitalized following an incident at a Ford plant in northern Macomb County.

In a statement, Ford Motor Company said a contractor working in a substation at the Romeo Engine Plant was injured Tuesday afternoon when he made contact with a live wire, interrupting power to the plant on 32 Mile Rd.

The contractor was transported to a hospital where his condition is not known at this time.

Romeo police tell WWJ they got a call from plant security around 2:20 p.m. with reports of an explosion at the plant. The Bruce/Romeo and Washington Fire Departments, as well as Romeo police and Michigan State Police responded to the scene.

Officials say they found no evidence of an explosion, but said the contractor was hurt.

"Our thoughts are with the contractor, his family and friends," Ford said in a statement. They did not release the worker's name or any further details.

Stay with WWJ for further information as it is released.
