CANTON TWP. (WWJ) - Police say no charges will be filed in the case of a Livonia Franklin High School teacher who was accused of texting nude photos to a student.

Speaking to WWJ Newsrasdio 950 on Wednesday, Livonia Police Captain Ron Taig said the teacher was not arrested in the classroom, as was reported by some in the media.

Taig said police conducted a thorough investigation and that the investigation is now complete, with no charges filed against the teacher or anyone else.

While multiple parents told WWJ they have seen for themselves the alleged inappropriate text messages, including nude photos of the female teacher, Taig would not comment on that. Taig also declined to provide any information about what investigators concluded did or did not take place.

A spokesperson for the school district told WWJ the teacher resigned last Thursday.

In a letter sent to parents, Principal Andrew Pesci stressed that media coverage of what he called a "personnel issue" has been "inaccurate," adding that police determined "there would be no arrest based on the information that was brought forth."

Pesci said students were read a prepared statement in order to dispel rumors, bring the focus back to preparing for final exams, and to let them know that the support of school counselors and staff is always available them.

He added: "We know that we can move forward, together, to close out the school years on a positive note -- there is so much to be proud of at Franklin High School!"
