ROMULUS (WWJ)- A major slowdown along I-275 stretched on for more than 10 hours as crews worked to remove a semi-truck that crashed overnight.

The crash happened around 10:45 p.m. Tuesday on northbound I-275 near Northline Road.

Witnesses tell Michigan State Police the semi-truck was traveling too fast for the snowy road conditions when it crashed into the median and rolled onto its side.

Officials were initially concerned after Romulus firefighters determined the semi was hauling hazardous materials. But further investigation revealed sealed containers of the materials didn't leak or break open, according to police.

Crews worked through the night and morning to clear the scene. By 9:40 a.m. Wednesday, the truck was finally removed from the median and traffic was starting to pass by the scene as normal.

No other vehicles were involved and no injuries were reported.
