(WWJ) - Consider this your warning -- again.
Michigan State Police said they would continue Tuesday with what they call "Operation Freeway of Love" and "Operation Westside," cracking down on speeders and other drivers violating traffic laws on I-96 and M-10, the Lodge Freeway.
"Be sure to increase that driving distance, drive the speed limit and do not drive distracted," MSP Metro Detroit warned in a tweet.
"Operation Freeway of Love" includes the entire Lodge Freeway, from downtown Detroit to Northwestern Highway in Oakland County. "We will be looking at excessive speed, seatbelts, following too closely and other aggressive driving behavior," police said.
"Operation Westside" focuses on I-96 from downtown Detroit to the Livingston County line, with many troopers stationed near Middlebelt in Wayne County and near Wixom in Oakland County. Police said they'd be using traffic units to "look for those drivers that are more likely to cause a traffic crash."
Both operations were launched Monday, but police haven't yet said how many drivers were stopped or ticketed.
Last Thursday, troopers issued more than 200 tickets to drivers on the Lodge, a majority of them for speeding. One driver was caught allegedly going 97 mph.
