DETROIT (WWJ) - It has now been reported that suspect Davell Stevenson, the man wanted in the alleged kidnapping of a 5-year-old Detroit boy, has been located and taken into custody.

Marcus Pruitt had been missing since Thursday night when he was found early Friday afternoon at a house on Stahelin Avenue near 7 Mile Road, about a mile from his Detroit home.

Detroit Police Assistant Chief James White said they have identified 39-year-old Stevenson as a suspect in what's being investigated as a child abduction.

"Let me be clear," Detroit Police Assistant Chief James White said. "The information that we have is that this child was kidnapped, was taken without permission from his home."

While police said thar Pruitt appeared to be OK, he is getting checked out for injuries.

Meanwhile, many questions remains about how or why Stevenson may have taken the boy.

Pruitt was reported missing late Thursday from his home on St. Mary's Street, near 7 Mile Road and the Southfield Freeway. His mother told police she went to check on her son at around 10:30 p.m., and he was gone.

"He was upstairs playing, or he was playing videogames the last time she saw him, that was about 9 to 9:40 p.m. last night," said Police Capt. Darrell Patterson. "Later on she discovered that he was missing. She searched around the house and then finally contacted the police once she could not find him inside of the home."

Police thoroughly searched the house and then the neighborhood, going door to door. Finally, at around 12:40 p.m., someone at the home where the child was recovered called to notify police. Officers rushed over to find Pruitt on the porch.

After the child was removed to safety, WWJ's Jon Hewett reported police took possible evidence from the scene, including a vehicle.
