DETROIT (WWJ) -- Police are searching for a man they say is a serial liquor store robber.
A man described only as "an older black male wearing dark clothing and black shoes" has been caught on surveillance cameras braking into and stealing from multiple party and liquor stores over the last few weeks on Detroit's west side.
On Aug. 5 the suspect broke into the Asmar Party Store in the 16000 block of 7 Mile Road, taking cigarettes from behind the counter and cash out of the register, stuffing it into his pockets. Police say the man has broken into that store twice.
The same suspect broke into Universal Liquor and Wine, located in the 19000 block of Grand River Avenue, on Aug. 11. Police say he used a ladder to enter through the roof and took cigarettes and multiple bottles of liquor, then used a ladder to climb back out of the store.
Police say he's hit that store on three separate occassions.
Authorities are asking anyone who recognizes the man in the photos or surveillance video, or otherwise has any information about the robberies, to call the Detroit Police Department's 8th Precinct Detective Unit at 313-596-5840. Calls can also be made anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
